Laterite

Laterite is a soil and rock type rich in iron and aluminum, formed in hot, humid tropical climates through intense weathering of parent rock.
It becomes hard and brick-like when exposed to air due to the oxidation of iron.

It is widely used in construction, especially in traditional buildings, road works, and landscaping.
